It is dedicated to the teaching and practising traditional Karate under the Shotokan style of Karate founded by Sensei Gichin Funakoshi.

The present instructor or sensei is Mr. Loh Beng Hooi, a holder of black belt 6th Dan from Kobe Osaka Sabah (OSK) and a world class referee with the World Karate Federation (WKF) and the advisor of the club is Mr. Alfred Chin, the advisor since 1987.

S.T.T.S.S.Karate-Do Club is inspired by the following guidelines:

 *       The practice of Karate as personal discipline, requesting a good physical and mental dedication

 *       The self, motivated commitment of its instructor, advisor and student members.

 *       The recruitment of its members from all social, racial and religious backgrounds.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Mr. Alex Sham was also instrumental in  propagating the Art of Self-Defence to the students at that time. Through their firm commitment and dynamic approach the club started to flourish and many Tshung Tsin members,in recent years, have made up to the top grades by passing the illustrious black belts and in some cases have been known to have coached in overseas countries, like New Zealand.

For example,Mr. Mak Chee Gee, a former student, was a national champion and represented the country in 1989 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur.

In one of the school's Annual Sports Meet, i.e. on 19 March 1989, and co-incidentally with the staging of the International Sabah Karate Championship (I.S.K.C), held in Kota Kinabalu, three European Karate Powerhouses namely Sweden, Norway and Denmark were invited to compete. Led by Mr. Alex Sham, the school's instructor, the renowned Swedish Karate team gave a magnificent and highly skilled demonstration.

In 1989 also saw the coming of Ms. Michelle Koh, the former SEA Games Karate Kata Female Champion (gold medalist) assuming the post of instructress to oversee the training of students in the school.

In mid 1990s saw the arrival of Mr. Johnny Chong who replaced Ms. Michelle and coached the students until December 2005 and subsequently in January 2006 Sensei Loh from OSK took over the helm as the new instructor until the present days.
